ACP welcomes James Lee as new senior editor for "Gases" and thanks Tanja Schuck for her valuable contributions

20 April 2026

Tanja Schuck has decided to step down from her role as senior editor for the subject area Gases following her acceptance of a new position that requires a higher level of commitment and additional responsibilities. We would like to sincerely thank Tanja for her valuable contributions during her time as senior editor, through which she helped to maintain and further strengthen the high scientific standards of ACP.

We are pleased to announce that James Lee has agreed to take over the role of senior editor for Gases, and we are grateful for his willingness to support ACP in this capacity. James joined the ACP editorial board in 2025. He is research professor of atmospheric chemistry at the University of York and a member of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), based in the Wolfson Atmospheric Chemistry Laboratories. He also serves as Chair of the Department of Chemistry Net Zero Working Group.

His research focuses on the measurement and interpretation of atmospheric trace gases, particularly nitrogen oxides (NOₓ), ozone (O₃), and methane (CH₄), to better understand their emissions, chemical transformation, and impacts on atmospheric composition and climate. His work combines direct flux measurements from ground-based and airborne platforms with studies of urban and remote tropospheric chemistry, aiming to constrain emission inventories, elucidate photochemical processes, and improve predictions of atmospheric composition under changing emission scenarios.
